Milk products are sold in supermarkets in a number of varieties based on types/degrees of the following.
1/The origin. In European supermarkets you can find cow’s milk, goat milk and plant milk (from plants’ sauce -soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, oatmeal milk, coconut milk, sunflower seed milk etc). Buffalo milk is popular in Asia and camel milk can be purchased in some Arabic countries.
2/The way it’s produced. The varieties of milk may depend on additives (e.g., vitamins), fat content (e.g., full-fat or whole, semi-skimmed, skimmed), pasteurization (e.g., raw milk, pasteurized milk; sterilized milk - processed with ultra-high-temperature and called UHT milk), water content (e.g., dry milk), flavoring (e.g., chocolate), farming method (e.g., organic, grass-fed).
3/Packaging. Milk may be commonly found in waxed cardboard boxes, plastic jugs and plastic bottles, waxed paperboard cartons with volume size in liters. In Great Britain milk is sold in 1 pint, 2 pints, 4 pints, 6 pints containers whereas in the US it’s commonly sold in gallon , half-gallon and quart containers.
